Dear Colleague
ID CARDS FOR AIRSIDE WORKERS
Prospect has welcomed the announcement by the Government to abandon their plans to make ID Cards compulsory for Airside Workers.
Prospect has consistently opposed the introduction of the Scheme, believing that it would do nothing to address issues in relation to aviation safety and security. Prospect had raised concerns that representations made by Prospect and other unions through the consultation period had fallen on ‘deaf ears’ and been ignored at a political level.
Prospect recently wrote to all MPs with regard to this issue and received a high level of cross party support. We also wrote to the new Home Secretary again reiterating our concerns.
We welcome the decision made by the Government with regard to this issue and see it as a triumph for common sense.
Yours sincerely
GARRY GRAHAM
National Secretary
