The Southern Section incorporates NATS airports from Manchester to Southampton. It also includes ATCOs at CTC and the college, including the students.
We meet four times a year. National issues are discussed, but most of the agenda relates to queries about the decisions of local management that may contravene National Agreements. The Southern Section is completely scattered, so we therefore have the problem of unit isolation. There are always debates about how local reps should deal with managers that attempt to disregard or are ignorant of agreed procedure in relation to our terms and conditions. Thankfully we have a wealth of experience in the Section so expertise and information is regularly shared.
