The BEC have recently agreed a slight change to the AAVA agreement. Up until now it has been prohibited to partake in Selling of Annual leave on a half day basis. In light of some inconsistencies and misunderstandings that have been experienced due to the misapplication of the agreement across a number of units we have agreed to allow part days SOAL. The maximum number per annum of 6 occasions per ATCO when you can partake in SOAL still applies and one half days SOAL counts towards this maxima. All unit managers should now be aware of this and the details are enclosed in the agreement which you can download HERE.

What about the NSL experianced ATCOs who because of other work they undertake for their unit and decide that they will drop one validation after years of service with NATS, are now penialised by the AAVA agreement regarding part valid ATCO`s and the amount of AAVAs they can do ane what is worst they are at the bottom of the pile as far as being considered for them.I thought the union was there to protect you not make you a second class member
We believe the principle to be sound. We believe that those unable to hold the full compliment of tickets should be protected and also that priority in AAVA allocation should be given to those working full MUR. If an individual is unable to hold MUR there is a question around whether NATS should encourage additional attendance anyway. I’m unsure exactly what point you are trying to make, but if someone is performing another task which limits their ability to hold a full compliment of tickets I would expect the definition of MUR locally to allow this combination of tasks to be included.
We should have continued a days SOAL at full rate for any length of attendance. Can’t see how there could be a misunderstanding, in on an AAVA on a rostered days leave whether it is 3 or 8 hours its the same rate, simple. The selling of leave is bad enough without under selling it.
